だからこそ、求める性能を持った新しい素材を開発するところから、徹底的にこだわっています。既存の素材をただセレクトするだけでは、私たちのニーズを十分に満たすことは難しく、いわばありきたりのモノ創りしかできないからです。

世界初の撥水ドライレイヤー®や、天然素材と化繊それぞれの長所を活かして糸から開発したベースレイヤー、ダイニーマ®を用いた新開発のテンションスリング™、超軽量・高透湿素材を採用したシェルター、異次元のストレッチ性を備えた防水透湿素材のエバーブレス®、世界初のシート状立体保温素材のファインポリゴン®……。
どれも、オンリーワンのアイデアとこだわりの素材で次々と新商品を開発しています。
自然や自然を愛する人に支えられているアウトドア業界ですが、生産や流通という面で果たしてエコな考えが貫かれているかは疑問です。
コストを抑えるために海外で行う大量生産、流行を追ったもの作り、そしてシーズン途中から急速に下落する価格、たった1年で古くなってしまう製品。そうした大量生産&消費のトレンドに対し、finetrackは逆行しているかもしれません。しかし、国内でのこだわった、年式にとらわれない定番商品のみに絞ったモノ創りは、私たちの曲げられない理念です。
もう一つ大切にしているのは、長く使い続けられる製品を作ること。それは「値札」以上の優れたコストバリューを持たせる取り組みの一環であり、ひいてはささやかながら、エコロジーにも貢献できるものだと考えています。
finetrack商品をボロボロになるまで使い続けていただく、それは私たちにとって何にも代え難い喜びです。
たとえば、素材だけを日本で調達し、海外で縫製をすることも可能です。
しかし私たちは、糸作り、生地への織り(編み)上げ、仕上げ、そして裁断、縫製に至る全てを、日本国内で行うことを主としました。なぜなら、いま日本の繊維技術が世界No.1であるのは、素材を作りそれを製品に仕上げるまでの全ての業者が「繊維産業」として一体となって成長した結果であり、そのことを大事にしたいと考えているからです。
日本国内で素材から開発するモノ創り。それはコスト面でも、チャレンジングな試みです。そのために、サプライチェーンマネージメントで仕入れから販売までの効率化を行っています。独りよがりなモノ創りにならないよう、常に値段以上のコストバリューを持った製品を届ける努力を怠らず、日本を元気にすることに微力ながら貢献し続けたいと考えています。
ひとつの例として、価格競争のなかで途絶えてしまったグローブの国産化に取り組み、その再興の兆しを見ることができました。夏物の薄手グローブにはじまり、アウターを除く秋冬モデルのグローブにおいても、国内生産でのモノ創りをスタートしています。
When it comes to the unstoppable forces of nature, people really have no control over the outcome. However, in addition to making full use of our past experiences and knowledge, we can also get a helping hand from the clothing and gear that we choose.
All of finetrack’s items are developed based on actual experiences in the face of nature’s fury. To ensure the time we spend outdoors is enjoyable and remembered fondly, we place importance on safety above all else. In this way, comfort is just as important as safety.
This dedication has led us to developing new materials that meet the performance needs we require. When first looking to satisfy those needs, we came to realize that selecting from among existing materials was difficult; ordinary materials only allowed us to make ordinary products.
This is one of the reasons we are dedicated to and take pride in ensuring our products are made in Japan.
By adopting a development system that combines Japan’s world-leading textile technology and our firsthand experiences with real-world needs allows us the ability to develop truly impressive products that meet not only our customers’ expectations but also our own.
The world’s first water-repellent undergarments, DRY LAYER®. The BASE LAYER developed from yarn that takes advantage of both natural materials and synthetic fibers. Ultra-lightweight and highly breathable shelters using the newly developed TENSION SLING™ made using Dyneema®, an incredibly strong synthetic fiber. EVERBREATH® waterproof breathable material with varying directions of stretchability. The world’s first sheet-shaped heat insulating material, FINEPOLYGON®.
These are just a few of finetrack’s products developed with careful attention to an idea and the material.
The outdoor industry is supported by nature and those who love spending time there. However, being a part of the outdoor industry does not automatically mean that eco-friendly ideas are employed throughout the production and distribution process.
From mass overseas production to keep costs down to focusing on trendy products, mid-season drops in prices, and products that will be considered out of style come next year—these are just a few of the issues faced by mass production–based manufacturers. In light of this, you could say that finetrack is working backwards. However, at finetrack, our focus is on creating standard products that rise above the rest while not being bound by their production age, all within Japan. And this philosophy is not one we are willing to sacrifice.
We are also dedicated to creating products that can be used for many years to come. This means providing value that far surpasses the price tag, and ensuring a smaller environmental impact as a result.
Having our customers use finetrack products until they are torn to shreds is an incomparable honor.
It is not uncommon to see products made from materials procured in Japan but sewn together overseas.
At finetrack, we choose to do everything—from yarn-making to weaving (knitting), finishing fabrics, cutting, and sewing—right here in Japan. The reason that Japan’s textile technologies are the best in the world is because all of those involved have grown together to create a thorough textile industry that starts with the material itself and ends with the finished product. Our decision to manufacture products in Japan is a testament of our dedication to keeping that collective spirit alive.
Nevertheless, creating products wholly in Japan—from development to production—is not without its challenges, including costs. To continue being able to do so, we at finetrack are dedicated to improving supply-chain management from purchasing to sales. We strive to continuously deliver products with greater value than price that go beyond simply improving our bottom line and instead contribute to the further energization of Japan’s manufacturing capabilities in order to prevent stagnation of the manufacturing market.
One example of our dedication in this endeavor is our efforts in the manufacturing of made-in-Japan gloves, which had ceased due to a lack of price competitiveness but still had signs of revivability. To keep the domestic glove market alive, we began producing a wide variety of gloves, beginning with thin summer gloves as well as various fall and winter models.
